A strong, deep, yet soft and full sound comes from this handheld iron gong.
Coming to the making of this gong was part of an ongoing search into the inner qualities of Iron.
When looking at the surface, the energies of iron and steel are aggressive, unyielding and hard. Something I became very familiar with during my student days working in metal workshops as a blacksmith.
However, Together with Ton Akkermans, I have found that one can move through athmosphere and energy that initial layer into a whole new field of inner life. It is a bright, vital force of pure light that approaches one when connecting with this deeper nature of iron. The elemental forces surrounding in fact feel very feminine, but in a shining, vital and joyous manner.
It is not for nothing that it is the iron in our blood that carries the oxygen, the lifeforce that we breathe and which sustains us. It is this, more balanced and living force that I find shining forth in the figure of Búri from the old norse sagas.
This gong comes with its own gong bag and mallet, so you can start playing it right away.

Care instructions
Andromeda Gongs are coated in a thin layer of microcrystalline wax to prevent oxidization. If your gong gets dirty, wipe with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
